UM’s commitment to energy efficiency and efforts to prevent climate change, Universitas Negeri Malang has implemented several policies, such as developing smart buildings and renewable energy sources.
Among them is the use of automatic cross gates in the parking area, CCTV video surveillance in the campus area, construction with a glass area larger than the walls so that sunlight energy enters the room, automatic sensor systems for classroom lighting, the use of solar panels for public street lighting. , and automatic door sensor system. In addition, the State University of Malang has several renewable energy sources, including solar panels, chillers (a combination of heat and electricity), clean biomass/biogas, and hydropower.
Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) pays attention to environmental damage caused by human activities and environmental climate change. Center of Excellence for Higher Education Science and Technology Center of Advanced Materials and Renewable Energy (PUI-PT CAMRY), Department of Electrical Engineering, and Department of Physics, State University of Malang build solar power plants, water pump sources, and environmentally friendly power plants in Malang Regency and Blitar Regency. In addition, the Department of Biology, State University of Malang, also created a program for making natural compost and a green school as a form of nature conservation and applying a green environment. Furthermore, PUI-PT CAMRY, Universitas Negeri Malang, has organized national training and workshops on solar power plants for home smart applications.
