UM Drinking Fountain

UM UNTUK GREENERS!

#BebasBotolPlastik

Nowadays, the urgency of solving single-use plastic problems in Indonesia has begun to be realized by various parties. The government, corporations, community institutions, and the community individually are in the process and trying to respond to these problems with their respective capacities and capabilities. Therefore, it is hoped that the single-use plastic problem can be solved through government policies, corporate considerations, community support, and participation.
Individually, this problem can be solved—or at least reduced—by carrying a tumbler/tumbler with us everywhere we go. However, another problem arises: where can we refill our empty drinking bottles?
In environmental problems, integration between individual and collective resolution efforts is required. Bringing a tumbler is an individual solution that existing facilities must also support. To be a collective solution to the problem of the remaining consumption of drinking water in single-use containers, UM provides drinking fountain facilities at strategic points in UM. The location can be seen on the map below!
The drinking fountain is an installation of water management that is not fit for drinking into drinking water which can be consumed directly. In MU, this water management is carried out by each unit using a water purifier. The procurement has been carried out starting from 2016 when there was only one installation. PDAM Malang City facilitated this first installation. Along with the increasing urgency and the threat of residual consumption of drinking water in single-use bottles, the drinking fountain facilities at UM are increased in quantity and quality. It is hoped that the facilities provided can be utilized properly by the UM academic community.
There is no need to worry or be suspicious of the water quality from the drinking fountain because the water has been purified so that it is safe for consumption. The real thing we need to worry about is the quality of the water, soil, and air that we pollute from plastic bottles that are not managed and treated properly.

Let’s move together for the UM environment and the preservation of water, land, and air!
Best regards
