HISTORY OF GREEN CAMPUS – UNIVERSITAS NEGERI MALANG
Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) is one of Indonesia’s universities designed as a campus that cares about the environment and has an environmental personality. As stated in the Master Plan for Development (RIP) of the Universitas Negeri Malang in 2011-2030, one of the components in the development of UM as a Learning University is to create a learning environment including creating an environment that is beautifully arranged, calm, and comfortable for learning, as well as a psychological environment that is conducive to learning. Therefore, provide a feasible atmosphere for learning. Therefore, a program is needed to realize this goal.
The birth of the UM Green Campus began with UM’s participation in the UI Green Metric ranking in 2016. However, in the 2016-2019 period, no special organizational body focused on following up on the ranking. Only in 2019 was the UM Green Campus Team formed, which still consisted of lecturers and education staff. The involvement of students in the UM Green Campus Team was only carried out in July 2020, along with the issuance of the Malang State University Chancellor’s Decree Number 15.7.23/UN32/OT/2020 concerning Environmentally Friendly Campus (Green Campus) 2020-2023 Universitas Negeri Malang on 15 July 2020.
